Almost good
I bought the Marcy Ab bench because of its low price tag. First I must say that I was delighted by the quick shipping. It arrived in two days. Secondly, I want to talk about assembly. It wasn't much of a problem at first. I had to tap one of the screw holes in the base because it had been stripped out. Not a real problem. I also had to add a spacer on the "locking knob" that holds the leg pegs on the at the bottom because it too had different threads than the bolt. (It would not tighten even halfway.) After all that the bench was assembled and ready for use. Now I am only 5'8" and it seems to me that the bench part might have done better to be 3 or 4 inches longer, but doing the exercises was good enough to make my abs sore the next day and that is what counts. It is what it is but worth what I paid for it.

For serious ABS
I purchased the Marcy SB-410 for my 18 year old godson and his buddies. I've been coaching them with weightlifting for years. They needed a tougher exercise for their abs, but we didn't have a lot of room in our home gym. The Marcy bench was perfect. It took only 10 minutes to put together, it's light weight so you can move it out of the way. It's also convertable--from an incline crunch board to a stable bench. So, after the boys do their abs, they can stay in place, raise the bench in two seconds and do concentration curls from the same spot. It's solid, affordable, arrived in three days and I didn't pay for shipping. I couldn't have asked for a better purchase. UPDATE-- It's now 2013, hundreds of thousands of sit-ups later and the bench still looks brand new. Keep in mind it's not in the nature of teenage boys and young men in their 20s to treat gym furniture delicately...lol. It really was a a great purchase. Oh yeah, if you stick with it,the bench works. My godson and four...
Good Product Complex Assembly
The bench works very well for simple and angled crunches. It was a bit more difficult to assemble than we expected, taking two competent adults about 45 minutes.

Fantastic product
I've been using this bike for about two years and I absolutely love it. I turn on the television and watch a movie or play video games and the time flies by! I honestly forget I'm riding it sometimes, though that depends how good the movie or video game is! I have to get up every 30 minutes to stretch and give my buttocks a break, but it's a very comfortable seat overall. I keep a pillow stashed between the seat and backrest for even more comfort. When I started, I was 400 lbs so there's no weight limit that I'm aware of. Easy to assemble, and you can adjust the tension from 1-8 to make your workout easier or harder. Plus, the legs rotate forward or backward, so you can ride in any direction you please. It also allows you to adjust the length from the seat to the pedals, so if you're short or tall you can adjust it to fit your needs. Also, it's relatively heavy but the bottom of the unit includes rollers, so it rolls across the carpet or hardwood flooring for easy storage. The unit is...

Great Home Cycle!
The directions advise to have two people put this cycle together, but I was able to do it by myself without breaking a sweat. One part of the instructions is incorrect, asking you to use three washers when you really need four (you'll figure it out by looking at the drawn instructions). I put it together in under an hour without any problems.

The cycle is very sturdy and quiet. I have the cycle stored next to our babies' bed and ride while they're falling asleep so I can look over them - it is VERY quiet! The highest magnetic tension is also pretty decent for a home machine. The monitor is very basic, but has the necessities.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend!
Marcy recumbent mag cycl
My husband and I were looking for a style of exercise bike that was easy on the posterior and on the wallet. The Marcy recumbent Mag cycle is both! My husband and my teenaged son were able to put it together in less than an hour (if you don't count the time in laying out the parts and reading through the instructions first). There were 2 washers left over, so I am assuming that the manufacturer included extras.

The monitor keeps track of the time that you spend exercising in each session, speed, distance traveled, calories burned, and it has an odometer. I was surprised about how quiet it is, as our previous upright exercise bike was quite noisy. The bike also has a dial to set the tension level (there are 8 levels).

I was able to buy the Marcy bike on sale for $127 and with super saver shipping through Amazon I was able to get free shipping and handling. This turned out to be a much better deal than through Walmart dot com.

The MD857 by Impex Fitness is a complete workout system. This Olympic weight bench offers four back pad positions so you can isolate and develop all areas of your pectorals. Detailed instructions allow for quick and easy assembly so you're working out right away. This bench offers a weight capacity of 600lbs. To accommodate your legs, the MD 857 includes a dual-function leg developer with a pivot point and locking mechanism. I like it a lot.
So I've answered a few questions here and there on other people's review, so I figured I would start my own.

I bought this weight bench mainly because I wanted to workout in peace and avoid any gym environment.

Assembly took me about three hours, but that's because I did it on my own. That being said, I would recommend two people carrying it out for safety purposes.

The box came with everything I needed, so I was happy that it was complete. Also, it did not come damaged like other reviewers have said, so I guess I got lucky in that regard too.

I like the flexibility of the catches because you can put them along different heights of the unit and are reversible. The one exception is that the catches at the very top (facing on the opposite side in the picture), in that they are restricted to that height (but are reversible too). The catches themselves come in two types. I use the short ones as the primary catches, but the longer ones for...

Good Bench
This is a solid product and I like it a lot. The only complaint I have is that the squat rack in the back is definately for a taller person, but I just turned the top front rack holders around to use in the back. I'm only 5'6" so getting the bar back up on the squat supports was a bit difficult, but once I turned the front ones around it was much easier. I like the versitility that it offers in that regard too. Overall a very solid product.
Marcy Diamond MD 857 Olympic Surge Bench
I am very happy with this bench. Very sturdy and easy to put together. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because some of the peices of the kit had paint chips and dings. Probably from shipping. Other than that I am pleased with this purchase.

Good Bench
This is my first fitness bench purchase I am satisfied with the product.

Good:
1. All metal pieces were of stellar quality.
2. It is by far the most comfortable bench I have used.
3. I am 5' 10" and I can easily rest my head on all positions.
4. It doesn't wobble after adjustments.
5. No leg support for decline but the seat is big enough to clamp your thighs on but I would not recommend it for sit ups. There is also three seating positions.

Bad:
1. . Some of the nuts and bolts are pretty difficult to screw on due to spray paint. You may need to strip off the paint otherwise you wear out the screws during installation. Its a bit tough of the hand using their hex keys.
2. The manual was poor and they could drawn the diagrams larger and clearer. The bolts and parts are laminated into a cardboard and some of the pieces popped out for me which may have scratched other parts.
3. The seat had noticeable tear on the bottom which is...

Very nice bench
This is a very nice, sturdy bench. It's well made and heavy. I got it to use with dumbbells up to about 50 pounds each. I'm 5'7" and 170 lbs and it's very stable, a taller person would easily fit on this bench. It's bigger than it looks in the picture.
Good Bench...
Overall a good bench...It is sturdy and has ample room for an adult to do any range of exercise on it. The welds and the frame are excellent and ease of assembly is good. The only thing that I wish that it had was the ability to secure your feet for sit-ups. Overall a solid 4 star rating for this bench.

All Good
Bought this item via Amazon over other retailers because of the free shipping (delivered very quickly by Fed-Ex). Took a while to put together, and the tension chord was a complete bitch, but I broke out my trusty wrench and got it in place. This bike is very sturdy, and I tightened the piss out of the nuts and bolts so it would be. I can see where the base legs and seat may wobble if the bolts are not tight, so be vigilant about that. Had to get used to the smooth, noiseless ride, and the higher tension settings will get smoother as I get more used to it. The lower settings are very smooth and effortless. The plastic case was intact, no bolts were missing, all was good, and the bike fits into a convenient spot in my apartment and takes up little space. As a cardio exerciser, it works well, and after 15 minutes of use I was sweating like, well, like a fat guy on a bike. After 30 minutes I could barely walk, but, again, that's due to me, not the bike. The seat really does hurt the...

This appears to be the same bike as I own, it's excellent!
I don't know why Marcy changed the model number on what was a great-selling and highly rated exercise bike on Amazon, and somehow managed to lose its 100+ mostly flattering reviews, but this looks and sounds exactly like the one I've been using 2-3 times per week for the last year-and-a-half. It works really well, and it is definitely worth the money. I'm in fairly decent shape and I use it at level 3 for 20-30 min. Level 8 would be really really hard for more than a few minutes. People who don't find the tension difficult at level 8 either got a defective tensioner or had trouble installing it properly.

The calorie expenditure readout also seems pretty accurate. The flaw, but not a fatal one: the uncomfortable seat, which could not be easily replaced with another one. I tried using a sheepskin cover, but that created its own problems. You probably just have to get used to it as I've tried and mostly succeeded doing. (And the seat doesn't seem to bother everyone.)...
Exercise bike for small spaces
I bought this bike mainly because of its low price and small size. It does fit into a rather small space in my home office, and it's quiet and smooth. It took me about an hour and a half to put it together (I'm a 61-year-old woman)- a little challenging, but not impossible. I had to buy a gel seat for it, since the seat is pretty uncomfortable without it. My biggest complaint is the configuration of the handlebars. I'm not racing anywhere, but the handlebars are way out in front like a racing cycle. This means I either have to stretch out for it (hard on the arms and shoulders), or sit up very straight with my hands holding onto the back of the seat. I never realized what an issue this would be when I saw the product description. If you can get a similar cycle with "normal" handlebars, you will be much happier.

ok...
The piece arrived fine enough, but there are LOTS of parts. I didn't find it too difficult to assemble, but... if I were to do it again I would get a dozen Styrofoam cups and put the screws/bolts into them with the corresponding part number on the cup. There are WAY too many similar sized bolts. They are numbered in a shrink-wrapped container, but as soon as you open it they scatter. Trust me - use the cup idea.

Also, I would give this four stars but the bottom right floor bracket was machined improperly. The bolt holes on that side are about 1 1/2 inch too far out from the back. I called the factory and they said they would ship a replacement. After two weeks I called and asked them the status and they advised they are waiting for the part and it could be another 8 weeks. Grrrr! Because of this the safety bracket does not fit on that side, which defeats 75% of the reason I bought this piece.

Also - I wish that they had designed the resting brackets to...

All in one machine is great!... But....
My previous weight bench was just a smith bench due to an old shoulder injury. Now that my shoulder is better I wanted to get back into benching free weights again. So when I saw this bench I could see that it had both options (free weights and smith). The other thinks I like about it are:
I like that the bench accommodates standard one inch plates.
The bench can be placed at a 90 degree angle for shoulder presses
Things I don't like or would change:
The smith part of the bench is cheaply made. I normally squat ~200lbs. The first time I squatted with this bench I nearly gave myself a hernia! The guides that run along the smith bars are too short allowing too much play in the bar. So if by chance you do not lift the bar perfectly parallel to the floor it binds up completely! This sucks especially when you are mid squat with 200 lbs on you back!
I ordered new parts to hopefully alleviate this problem. But it's been a month and I have still not received...
Dissatisfied with delivery
I ordered this smith machine in October. It is now March and I STILL do not have all the pieces. The original was delivered in November, but was damaged. The company told me they would replace the damaged pieces. Each time I call, I get a different story: they will come so and so time, someone will return my call and then never does etc.

Great Bench for the Price
I'm 5'11", 240 lb (but trying to lose.) I know a lot of people review these lower-end benches and discuss the size and stability. My take is that it's adequate for me. Not super steady and slightly smaller than what would be ideal, but for the price I think it's fine. I bench 50 lb and find that it rocks a bit more than I'd like, but it's definitely not bad and I don't feel that it's dangerous - just isn't "rock" solid. I find as I lay on it I may have to slide a bit so that my body is on it just right - that's where it could stand to be just a bit bigger.

Ok, having said all that I really like it. I knew I wasn't getting the perfect bench at this price. I think I definitely got what I paid for. I really like that it folds up as we don't have a lot of room where we use it so we fold it up and put it against the wall when it's not in use. I didn't see any other bench, in this price range, that had that feature.

Putting it together was fine. The...

Great for the price
With 100 lb. dumbbells this bench can easily hold the 350 lbs handed to it. Had a Marcy bench before and had zero problems. So far this one is also working out like a charm.
Great for the price, caution if you like incline press
This bench really stands alone for its cost. It's easy to assemble, sturdy, looks good, and versatile. The box arrives beat to hell but fortunately it's packed well.

The only downside is that it's not very tall so if you're trying to do an incline of any sort, you won't be able to rest your head back. That may/may not be important to you (kind of a pain, IMO).

Excellent for the price
The price was right at $163 and with free shipping it surpasses many others I have seen or used. Put it together in about an hour but it helps to have your own tools. Instructions were relatively easy to follow and all the parts and pieces were in the box. Only a couple of drawbacks I've noticed while using the bench....the preacher curl attachment is not very stable, has a wobble to it and the quad extension gets in the way and won't allow you to fully extend your bar to get the max benefit from your curls. The quad extension end of the bench needs to have a horizontal stabilizing bar or brace like the rear part of the bench. The bench will tip to one side if too much of your body weight and weights lean to one side. Overall this is a good buy for the money and I enjoy using the bench and would recommend it. It is also a great feature to have the squat rack separate from the bench.

Decent setup with some flaws
It's great to have a separate bench and rack.
Price is good. Quality mediocre.
The height adjustment on the bench is dangerous. Locking bar can move side to side too much and disengage on one side. Should have end pieces that prevent movement.
Would be nice to be able to remove leg attachment altogether when not in use.
Also the curling platform is not very stable.
Overall a decent product for the price but mine will probably go back or I'll modify the height adjustment.
Solved my Squat Dilemma
Most importantly, I was looking for a solution for squats. Beginner benches do not have extending arms. Those that do often do not extend vertically high enough for squats. Most squat racks' horizontal distance are at least 48", which excludes the use of my 6' bar. Did not want to invest more $ in a 7' bar. Even the squat racks w/out a cross bar that are two separate peices go for upwards of $150. I was able to purchase this, with the nice bench included, for around the same price.

So, if you would like a bench that does not require a 7' bar and will accommodate squats, get this. It solved my problems.

Good place to start
This set by Marcy is a really good starter set to get you going. When I first heard about kettlebells they looked like so much fun so I bought this set which was reasonably priced (and you gotta love free shipping from Amazon!) Eventually, as you get stronger you will need to buy heavier kettlebells (the ones by Jfit, 30#, 40#, and 50# are solid) but these are just fine to get you going and they're light enough that the whole family can have fun working out together. Solid, consistent construction, nice vinyl protective cover. Once you get them, do yourself a favor and visit youtube and watch phil scarito teach you how to use them properly (no, I'm not him and no, he's not paying me.) There are a lot of fools out there that think they're showing you proper form that will get you hurt but phil's the real deal. I'm in the best shape of my life and I owe it all to kettlebells!

Great price for a great beginner set!
Don't be fooled by the whimpy looking 5 lb and 10 lb kettlebells! One can make a very intense workout for a beginner with super slow (non-ballistic) movements, even if the typical kettlebell lift is ballistic in nature.

The 15 and 20 lbs are very good once the person develops the form and fundamental knowledge of how to exercise with KBs. Note: KB's are not Russian, although were adopted and used in Russia extensively, where in the west they almost dissapeared with the advent of the adjustable dumbell.

Considering there is no shipping for this set, it is a great deal! Train carefully and smartly!
Great set for beginner/youth/female/mature
I bought this set for my wife and was pleasantly surprised. These bells are cast iron, nicely finished and sport a vinyl dip coating (up to the handles) that are easier on your floors. The handles are pretty smooth so they won't tear up your hands though I would have preferred a slightly rougher surface for grip. Overall quality is excellent and included shipping makes them a great value. Unfortunately the packaging is sadly lacking with the bells individually bagged in thin plastic with only a cardboard barrier between them and two packing straps holding the box together. Box arrived a little beat but the bells were not scuffed or damaged. The included "exercise workout program chart" is pretty much a joke. It's a folded sheet of what feels like newspaper with a couple of bell exercises and a couple of regular dumbell exercises (bicep curl, bent row, etc.). Thankfully there are plenty of sites with info and quite a few good books on kettlebell training from beginner to advanced here...

Good, sturdy, affordable gym (but preacher curl pad is useless)
I've been using this for a few weeks now. I bought this because I wanted an all-in-one system where I don't have to worry about being spotted and dropping the weights on my chest, and needed it to fit into a smaller area. All in all, I'm fairly happy with it. However, I do have issues that prevent me from giving it 5 stars.

First for the pros. It is very sturdy. It has a hollow steel frame with 2 inch bolts and nuts, so it doesn't shake around. It is compact without being cramped. The weight stack shield has a diagram of the muscle groups and the 14 main exercises you do, with a picture, brief instructions and which muscles it works. The diagram is really nice and a handy quick reference. The seat pads are comfortable, feel good, and easy to clean. The logo is actually stitched in, which is a nice touch. The pins to lock the butterfly/press bar are quick-release ones that are easy and quick to use. All in all, the cables are smooth and quiet, and everything works well...

Not bad for the price
At one time I would have never considered using a weight machine. I used only free weights. As time has gone by I have begun to depend on weight machines to help me balance the weight being lifted. At the ripe old age of 60 I have decided to start lifting inside my heated home during the cold Michigan winters. Several days ago I assembled this machine in 3, 3.5 hours. Step 1 tells you NOT to tigthen the bolts until instructed, tighten them right away or you will be tipping 150 pounds on it's side.Other than that, assembly is fairly straight forward. You might want to have a 16mm wrench/socket handy, it makes things go faster as you will want to adjust the torque on the pully wheels.

The 150 pounds of plates offers a total of 200 pounds of resistance. In essence you can do 200 pound seated bench presses, 160 pound butterfly presses, and 160 pound lat pull downs.

All in all not a bad machine. The welds seem to be of good quality. Decent gauge steel, etc...
Very Happy
I picked this gym up at Dunhams sports for $249.00 and it is worth every cent! I've been a user of free weights for almost 30 years and the marcy gym will give the workout your looking for. FYI, I am 6'5", 200 lbs and have a job in heavy construction as well as being very athletic.

BEST FREE WEIGHT SYSTEM FOR THE PRICE!!!
In case you are not aware, muscles react 30% better to free weights then they do to machine weights. The problem for many people, is getting that free weight motion safely if you have to workout alone. This Smith Machine concept tackles that nicely.

I researched for weeks what would be the best free weight (or similar) home gym, at the lowest price possible, and as safely as possible without a spotter, but without sacrificing quality. This Marcy smith system won the toss. There were a few other possible runner-ups (like the Body Solid Series 7 Smith Machine at $2800, or the PowerTec Multisystem Leverage Gym at $1500). Both had their pros (quality) and cons (size/price), but in the end when I compared everything this Marcy gym won hands down. The Linear Bearings used in it dramatically increase the quality factor, and while some reviews said they were not "Thompson" bearings, I find them to be of very good quality and extremely smooth (besides, how "brand name" do you really...

Excellent Machine for the Price
I've had this Smith Machine for about 2 weeks now and one thing I can say for sure is that I am royally impressed with the quality-to-price ratio of this system. It does almost every exercise you could ever want or need. It also looks great sitting there in my family room. I have included a couple of pictures to give a closer and more detailed view of some of the attachment on the system because the picture that Amazon gives kinda sucks.

Well here is my rundown on this gym:

Pros are as follows:
1. Great quality/price ratio with it only costing me $969.94 and Free Super Saver shipping. It shipped with CEVA Logistics to get to me. (Just a side note here, be sure to call CEVA and have them lookup your tracking number because Amazon did not supply the correct tracking number and CEVA must contact you to schedule a delivery appointment or else they will not come out to deliver to you.)

2. This machine looks great in your living room, den, patio, or...
has its limitations, have had since Christmas and is great for many things.
Price was crazy low, got it for 648 with free shipping over the holidays, crazy!
Anyway
Pros: Linear bearings, multiple catches on the smith machine, having an almost complete gym for the price.
Preacher curls feel great, as do the leg developer exercises.
Squats on the smith machine can be done to perfection and create an excellent workout with less weight.

I have a lot of cons, but I truly enjoy the machine and use at least 3-4 components of it 3-4 times per week.

Cons: The bench does not fit all the way under the smith bar when you wish to attempt shoulder presses with the back support at 90 degrees, so shoulder presses must be done with the bench flat, without back support.
Positioning the bench has to be done frequently, it can be hard to put the bench exactly where it needs to be for the perfect bench press.
The bar is not scored for hand placement like a normal olympic bar.
The bar is light, certainly not 45 pounds...

not that great
pros- seems sturdy, the preacher curl attachment and handle work really nice, it was easy to put together.
cons- the back cushion is pretty narrow, the pec fly handles dont allow for a natural fly motion exercise...it really forces your hands close to your chest at the top of the motion. it just doesnt feel natural, and the pec fly handles were the main selling point for me with this bench. if i had to do it again, i would probably look at purchasing a different bench; the pec fly handle option is not worth buying this bench in my opinion.

Marcy Diamond MD 389 Standard Bench with Butterfly
Pros: Sturdy, easy assembly(more or less 1 hour), straight-forward instructions, well-priced, preacher curl/pec fly attachment.

Cons: No lat attachment(no big deal), too narrow for wide-grip bench press.

Bottom line: Good deal for price. Entry-level.

05/11/2011******UPDATE

Pec fly attachments wobble. Needs extra o-rings to increase stability and ease flow. Screws that hold pec fly attachments are completely bent after 1 month of use. (Weight used: 25 pounds each) Calling manufacturer to get bolts replaced.
No Good
the bar handles are too narrow, you cant get a wide grip on the bar to do the exercises, when you push up you have to narrow your grip to put the bar in the handles which is kinda dangerous, so that's no good. Obviously you can do close grip bench presses since that would eliminate you from changing from a wide grip to a narrow grip to release the bar. But you can use the bench itself to lay back on while using dumbbells. there's no real decline on this bench. The Butterfly attachments , I dont even use. The Curl attachment is something i liked...but the leg lift exercises hurt or feel uncomfortable so that was a big let down. You have to position yourself almost in a half situp position to do them,,which is kinda good for an overall workout but it's a bit of a struggle. I think if it was 30 less it would be worth to buy for the curl attachment and the bench itself, but every thing else is kindof a fail. Get a proper bench. If i would have done this again i would have gone to a store...
